Cannes: More Lions for region on final day

The Panda Cheese campaign won a Silver Lion.It's been the best year ever for the Middle East at Cannes, by some way. The final awards night saw the region grab five more Lions, taking its tally to 12 overall.

All the regional entries that had been shortlisted in Film and Film Craft managed to pick up awards. In Film, Leo Burnett Cairo's excellent "Mother of All Foreign Films" campaign for Melody TV won a Bronze Lion, whie one of its ads, "Braveheart" also picked up a Silver Lion in the Film Craft category.

Impact BBDO Dubai won a Film Silver for its "Emirates Take-Off" ad for Mercedes Benz - which, if it wanted a link, should have a more Google-able name quite honestly, Emirates Take-Off just tends to bring up crappy mobile phone videos of an Emirates plane taking off - while TBWA\RAAD Abu Dhabi grabbed Film Craft Bronze for "Be Still" for the Abu Dhabi Tourism Board.

And Advantage Marketing & Advertising, Cairo, won a Silver Film Lion for the fantastic Panda Cheese campaign created on commission by the guys at Elephant. Wonder who'll get to stick the trophy in their reception area?

The Film Grand Prix went to Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, for its "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" ad for Old Spice. The Film Craft winner was "The Gift", DDB London's online film for Philips.

There were no regional shortlists in the Titanium & Integrated category, sadly. The Titanium Grand Prix went to Crispin Porter & Bogusky, for Best Buy's Twelpforce , while Wieden & Kennedy, Portland's Livestrong campaign for Nike won the Integrated top prize.

The Grand Prix for Good went to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, London for its 'interactive film' "Choose a Different Ending" for the Metropolitan Police.
