Asda’a Burson-Marsteller has won Middle East and Africa PR Agency of the Year at the International Business Awards in New York.
The judges singled out Asda’a B-M’s public affairs, technology, corporate, financial, consumer and healthcare practices for apparently being great, along with its Youth Survey (headline finding: youths still young*) from 2008.
“The quality of Asda’a Burson-Marsteller’s work, its innovative approaches and effective delivery stood out in its various campaigns for its clients and in its record of work across 2008 and 2009,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards, in a press release.
Asda’a top banana Sunil John said in the release: “During one of the world’s most tumultuous economic periods, the agency elevated its practice in existing areas of strength, activated new disciplines to anticipate market needs and delivered quality results for the regional governments, global and local businesses and NGOs we count as clients.”
As no-one from Asda’a could be at the (gala) ceremony, held at New York’s (prestigious) St Regis Hotel, Andrew Goldberg, chairman of something-or-other at Burson-Marsteller, collected the award on the agency’s behalf.
Thoughtfully, the Asda’a press release announcing its win also includes this helpful description of the award itself: “Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word ‘crowned’, the awards are approximately 16 inches tall, hand cast and finished in 24-karat gold and depict an individual holding a crystal pyramid.”
And there we were thinking they were named for this guy.
* NB – This is a joke. A JOKE, people. There we go.
