Senior editorial exits at The National |

Sources at ADMC’s daily newspaper The National tell us that, come the end of March, there will be three senior editorial staff gone. All have left of their own accord, and there isn’t believed to be any decent gossip involved. Sorry.
National editor Gregg Fray and sports editor Matt Slater (who was formerly national editor himself), we hear, are leaving to set up their own media relations consultancy. Cynics among you should feel free to insert your own “writing press releases” and “journalist at The National” snark in this space. Nice folk, like us, can simply read on.
The other departure is assistant national editor Roland Hughes, who announced his resignation a couple of weeks ago, not just in the office but on his Facebook page, we’re told.
At the time of writing, we were unable to reach editor-in-chief Hassan Fattah for comment, so we can’t tell any of the legions of UAE-based hacks who will no doubt be eager to pester Fattah for a job whether it’s worth sending in your CVs, or whether the positions will be filled internally. Although, from what we know, The National has already received the CV of every jobbing journo in the emirates anyway. Good luck to you all.
By the way, I’m required to work to strict deadlines and act on my own initiative. Just in case you were wondering.
