As the eagle-eyed out there may have spotted Emarat Al-Youm is still being sold, despite an apparent ban
by the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals.
The paper may have successfully appealed to the Federal courts, but we can’t say for certain as we haven’t yet seen a report on this, and certainly nothing in today’s Emarat Al-Youm itself.
The Arabic paper does, however, carry one self-referential nugget; in a brief, it reports that Emirates Airline is still blocking the distribution of Emarat Al-Youm from its flights, despite of a decision by the airline’s upper management to let the paper on board.
Emarat Al-Youm points the finger at an unnamed foreign national for the continued ban, and says he or she is letting other “British” papers have a bigger presence than might be warranted.
Unhelpfully, Emirates’ press office was closed when we called (perhaps they get the afternoon off on Thursdays) so we couldn’t reach the airline for comment, but we’ll try again next week.
