Branding agency Lambie-Nairn is setting up shop in Abu Dhabi’s new twofour54 media free zone, marking just the latest of many branding arrivals in the region.
“It has been our intention to open an office in Abu Dhabi for some time as it is such an important business centre for the Middle East,” said Christian Schroeder, CEO of the agency, in a press release.
“With the global economy in flux, the need for companies to strengthen their brands has never been more relevant than it is today. The media industry is a key contributor to the region's growth plans and Lambie-Nairn's experience in bringing brands to life in today's media-driven world, made this an obvious choice for us,” he added.
It’s interesting to see a new arrival to the region choose Abu Dhabi rather than Dubai – which, despite the increasingly extortionate cost of doing business in the emirate in recent years, has remained the choice of a new generation of, well, anything really.
We suspect twofour54 (anyone any idea on how to abbreviate that) is offering some attractive incentives to would-be tenants.
Interestingly, Lambie-Nairn counts the Abu Dhabi Media Company as one of its regional clients, along with Al Arabiya, Al Kass, Al Doha TV, and the BBC. And possibly ADMC has a lot more business to throw its way...?
The agency’s regional office will be headed up by Andy Hayes (pictured), formerly a senior client director in Lambie-Nairn’s London office.
Among the agency’s most famous work are the UK BBC 2 TV idents (see here, and some older ones here), featuring a variety of cute little motorised 2s (and of course roundly criticised as a gigantic waste of money – CAN’T YOU SEE IT’S ART, PEOPLE?).
The firm joins new arrivals Wolff Olins, Start, Tonic Branding, and probably a few others we’ve forgotten about. Branding a-go-go, people.
