Till Hohmann, regional creative director of Memac Ogilvy, has been named as a member of this year’s Press jury at the Cannes Lions, under jury president Mark Tutssel, global chief creative officer of Leo Burnett Worldwide.
It’s always a good thing for the region when locally based creatives get picked to sit on international juries, especially when the event is as important as Cannes, so we’re sure everybody here wishes Hohmann well – without any lingering feelings of envy or despair, right?
Hohmann, anyway, is understandably chuffed. “About ten years ago I first went to Cannes with the German delegation to the Cannes Junior festival. I was thrilled and excited,” he says. “A few years later I got the call from Cannes to come and pick up my first Gold Lion. I was thrilled and excited. Then, a few weeks back I got the mail that I had been appointed a member of the Cannes jury. I am thrilled and excited.”
Having regained control of his emotions, Hohmann continues. “Cannes is still the creative pinnacle of our industry and once you get hooked, it does not let you go. I’m sure this year will be very interesting in all juries – after all: 2009 was difficult for agencies and clients all around the globe. It will be interesting to see how everybody coped.”
