Goodbye, farewell, au revoir

Written by Eliot Beer, Thursday, 25 February 2010

Goodbye!Well, that’s that. I’m off.

Yes, after 18 months or so at AdNation, I’m moving on to pastures new.

It’s been a fun, exhausting, exhilarating, non-stop thrill ride almost from day one (apparently I’m contractually obliged to include at least three “it’s been a cool job” clichés in my leaving note).

Above all, working on AdNation has been fascinating and absorbing – perhaps not always in good ways, but it’s definitely been compelling.

Before I go, though, I’d like to thank everyone who has helped get AdNation off the ground: execs and creatives from (almost all) the agencies, and even some clients who were happy to talk to me and put up with my inane questions, the random sources of gossip and tittle-tattle, without which the site would be very little indeed, and all the PRs, who kept sending all those fascinating press releases. Thanks for that.

Also thanks to my fellow media and marketing hacks, who frequently, and very kindly, pointed me in the right direction, or told me when I was being a blithering idiot.

Most of all, though, I’d like to thank you lot out there – the readers – who mostly seemed to like what we’ve been doing, and sometimes even came back again to read yet more things. Really, thank you.

From next week another, equally excellent - in fact, more probably even better - editor will be taking over the helm, so please give them a big AdNation welcome. Or at least, don’t insult them too much.

As for me, I’m sticking around, and will be moving from writing about marketing to actually doing marketing, for a Dubai-based startup. So I’m sure I’ll see you around.

Cheery-bye, then, and toodle-pip,

Eliot Beer
Editor, AdNation Middle East
