Cigarette beauty ads target young women

Written by Eliot Beer, Sunday, 21 September 2008

Think it makes you look pretty? Now even the puff-tastic Middle East is putting a downer on smoking, the time’s right for anti-smoking campaigns.

These ads from Russia go after a popular target: young female smokers who are self-conscious about their looks and appearance.

The campaign features the tagline “Think it makes you pretty?” and shows a young female using a cigarette to apply lipstick, and wearing a necklace of used cigarettes.

The message is quite clear: you spend so much time and money on perfumes, accessories and makeup for your appearance, do you want to screw all that up by smoking?

The ads were done by BBDO Moscow with creative director Ludmila Baush, art director Maria Tovbina and copywriter Evgenia Babior.
