Anubis gets foul-mouthed competition

Written by Eliot Beer, Monday, 10 August 2009

Someone at Copycunts is clearly very angry.WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS NASTY WORDS, AND MAY BE UNSUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN OR CLIENT SERVICING EXECUTIVES. DON’T SAY WE DIDN’T WARN YOU.

Dear old Louai Alasfahani, scourge of the dishonest, champion of originality, beloved by everyone. Ok, beloved by some. Well, a few. Anyone?

You sir, at the back? Oh. Just scratching your nose. I see.

Er, anyway, beloved or not, Alasfahani clearly takes a certain amount of delight in pricking the pomposity of purloiners and generally doing his best to point out what he sees as dishonest advertising, whether it be scam ads, copycats, or whatever – and generally he doesn’t mince his words.

But it seems his outspoken style may be under some pressure from an international upstart blog, the charmingly-named Copycunts.

Sorry, but that’s what it’s called.

Eschewing the wry humour or moral outrage of other plagiarism-focused outlets, Copycunts goes straight for the motherlode: swearing and creative insults.

A sample: “You pile of unfathomable cunts. Try doing this with your fingers - pick up a pen, then place the tip on a blank piece of paper, then have an original idea, then write it down. In the likely event that you fail to have an original idea, simply reverse the pen in your grip and lower your eyeball onto the tip. Then continue to lower your eyeball until you are blind. Then continue until your are dead.”

How nice.

Another sample, this time from guest contributor ‘Big Trouble In Little Vagina’: “This ad is like your 110th wank. It’s lazy. Half arsed. Shameful. Painful. Boring.  And the pitiful dribble of ‘creativity’ that is threaded through this cluster-rape of a spot is laughable – rather like the clear liquid that slopes out of your cock-end during the contemptible finale of your vinegar stroke. The creative team managed to conjure the equivalent of watching the Transformers and, seconds later, ‘thinking up’ the mighty Go-Bots. Fuck off.”

What an utterly charming description.

In any case, we will be looking forward to making regular visits to Copycunts from now on, to keep abreast of some of the latest in international ad plagiarism, along with some of the best swearing since In The Loop.

So, Louai... any plans to up your game...?
