Once upon a time, there was an event called TEDx Dubai, held in a magical far-off land many years ago, when things were brighter and the scent of hope was in the air.
Hm. Ok, most of that is in fact lies – but it does seem like aeons since TEDx surprised everyone by being really rather good.
It was actually only last month (just...), or 47 days ago, according to organisers Giorgio and James (we’ll take their word for it). Doesn't time fly.
Anyway, a little later than the suggested “couple of weeks”, but for good reasons, the TEDx Dubai organisers have now started posting the day’s talks online, one per day – HOORAH!
As promised, AdNation will be bringing you some of the better talks from the day, as and when they’re posted. Today we’re starting with Google’s Mohamed Gawdat from the morning session, talking about the democratising of information and that sort of thing.
(The talk is in two parts on YouTube; the video below will automatically start the second part, so just sit tight.)
Mohamed Gawdat there, easing the TEDx crowd into the spirit of things at a rather early hour (for some of us, anyway) on a Saturday morning.
Also posted is TED bigwig Bruno Giussani, whose talk you can find here (although it’s not quite so interesting as Mohamed Gawdat).
Stay tuned for more TEDx Dubai talks over the next few weeks – possibly even with some commentary and discussion, if we feel up to it.
