What’s goin' on

Written by AdNation Editor, Sunday, 07 March 2010

Chuck Porter, one of this year's Lynx speakers. The organisers of the Dubai International Advertising Festival, set to run at the Palladium in Dubai Media City from March 15 to 17, have released details of this year’s speakers. There are 16 seminars and four workshops scheduled to take place, with input from several big names including Chuck Porter, co-chairman of Crispin Porter + Bogusky; David Nobay, creative chairman, Droga5 Australia; John Hunt, worldwide creative director of TBWA\ Worldwide; Mark Tutssel, chief creative officer of Leo Burnett Worldwide, and – from a little closer to home – Ahmed El-Azizi, vice-president of marketing at PepsiCo MEA.

This year also features a host of evening events where delegates can get their schmooze on and find a new job. First up, on Sunday, March 14, The National is presenting the regional premiere of Art & Copy, which – according to the press release anyway – is a “powerful new film about advertising and inspiration”. It sounds horrifying on paper, but hey, so does an advertising festival, and they’re sometimes fun. There are further ‘networking opportunities’ on other evenings, including an “exclusive party” on Tuesday March 16 at Media One hotel, hosted by the Dubai Creative Club.

"We are very excited about this year’s Dubai Lynx programme. It's an intense agenda with some hot topics presented by a host of world-class speakers. We’ve also injected the fun element by introducing some equally important networking opportunities central to this business," Steve Lane, Dubai Lynx festival director, says in the press release.
