Saudi Telecom has picked up the second ever Dubai Lynx Advertiser of the Year award, following on from inaugural winner Melody Entertainment
last year.
STC picked up a couple of Golds at last year’s Lynx for efforts around its recent rebranding exercise, but we’re guessing another factor in its path to advertiser of the year is just the sheer size of its spend.
Not only does it regularly hover near or at the top of Parc’s big-spender league-tables, but as the Lynx press release points out, STC currently holds a world record for sponsoring all 12 clubs in the main Saudi football league. That’s a lot of sponsoring.
“To be named as Advertiser of the Year is both an honour and a responsibility that we welcome. This prestigious award is further proof that STC is not only a telecom company, but also a leader in creativity and uses media creatively,” said Mohammed Al Faraj, general manager for corporate communications at STC, in the press release.
“Our goal is to showcase the power of STC as a home-grown brand and to engage our customers on a personal level through passion pillars that matter and which are a part of their lives,” he added.
Motivate boss and Lynx vice-chairman Ian Fairservice also chipped in: “STC is a young and dynamic company who has both the imagination and drive to advertise its products and brand through innovative ways allowing them to reach consumers in a local, regional and international arena.
“Seeing how they drive and embrace the creative process with their agencies, they are an inspiration to other brands,” he added in the release.
STC’s Al Faraj will pick up the gong at next month’s Lynx award ceremony, the first after not only the... unpleasantness last year, but also after the reality of that whole pesky recession thing really sank in.
Should be an interesting night.
