Coca-Cola Middle East, we're delighted to learn, will soon release its FIFA World Cup "anthem", entitled "Wavin' Flag - Coca-Cola Celebration Mix", sung by African hip-hop artist K'naan and featuring Lebanese singer (and Coke celeb spokesperson) Nancy Ajram.
“It is a privilege to be involved in the Coca-Cola World Cup Anthem, a song that is sure to bring happiness to so many people,” waffles Ajram in the press release. “There is no other time during the year when the entire world will celebrate the same thing at the same time. This song is full of happiness and feelings of unity and celebration, and we hope it will touch the hearts of every person experiencing the 2010 World Cup.”
She's gone a bit off-message there. Unlike K'naan, who apparently commented, "I'm really proud to be working with Coca-Cola on a track linked to their sponsorship of the 2010 FIFA World Cup TM." Now that's a proper corporate whore. He even remembered to 'say' "TM" (although we'd be interested to know whether he said the letters - "T.M." - or "trademark"). Pull your socks up, Ajram.
